Movie Review: Nightcrawler

I'm a complete sucker for the neo-noir genre and I've got to say, this is the peak of neo-noir. Somehow, Dan Gilroy created a horrible story about a character you absolutely despise, but at the same time has captivated you in some twisted way. It's really, really unsettling but you just can't stop watching it.

There's a sort of darkly funny tone that keeps you on your toes throughout the movie. The way that this movie is written will make it one you will not forget. It's to the point. Nothing is sugarcoated. It shows the good, the bad, the ugly. It has all the elements of the perfect psychological thriller, and the way that the tension builds to the incredible climax is simply stunning. There's never a slow moment, and even when there isn't a car chase the tension builds and builds, making you feel constantly uneasy. Oh, and of course, when there is a car chase, you can't peel your eyes from the screen.

Highly recommend. It is the epitome of psych thriller movies, crime movies and the neo-noir genre.
