Creative Writing: holding onto grief

Everyday I am happy is a day I feel like I'm betraying you. How can I celebrate success knowing you won’t tell all your friends about it? How do I enjoy a birthday when I know you won’t be calling me? How do I wish people a merry Christmas when I know you won't be one of them? When I know how much you would want to experience anything and everything with me. I am so overcome by sadness that I just want to stop; to stop growing, to stop reaching milestones, to stop celebrating occasions. Because, how could I when you can't do it with me? The only thing that hurts more is the idea of no longer feeling this sadness. The idea of reaching that last stage of grief: The idea of no longer thinking of you everyday. I am constantly in pain and I hope it never goes away
