an ode to my transgender bones

an ode to my transgender bones

I have fought for my skin

My manhood prevailing

In every cut I make,

Every slash and burn path and

Deforestation of the woodlands they called womanhood

I have made the Earth feel it.

The evil of skin still rots

My carrion corpse carrying on

The charlatan’s candy-crab flesh on my bones

Biting my nerves and spearing my brain

If your intent was to initiate into illogical femininity,

You have succeeded

But my nonsensical girlhood burns itself dead

Transforming into something like Proteus

Like Jonathon Harker descending the wall,

My feet stick to the poisonous ground I have sowed

Vines vernacularly speaking to me in a dialect that belongs to us boys

Us boys of talon and bleeding gum

Of broken bone protruding the skin

Long hair savage when it is on my head

Not Aphrodite, but beautiful Loki

Beetle-shells shedding each moon

My exoskeleton reforming to bite

Masculinity inherent in my double-thoraxed heat

I am a servant of the god you call violence

Who I call righteous inheritance

My ancestors blood in my teeth

I have fought for my skin

And manhood prevails

Angel wings growing out of my back

Engraved with the words of desire for freedom:

Kill, avenge, kiss, devour

Kill, avenge, kiss, devour

Kill, avenge, kiss, devour

Kill, avenge, kiss, devour

Devour

Devour
