Memories

Memories

You left her with memories

so drastic,

kind of like when the rubber bands were too tight on her wrists,

and momma made her take them off

though in this case, she couldn't

Her once bliss-filled soul is now hollow,

dreams turned nightmares,

and time was in no rush when she needed it most

Her thoughts fed on her like maggot to meat

24/7 lyrics repeat, 24 seconds in, she weeps

Though, no amount of rhythm & rhymes

could erase her defensive wounds

Drugs for temporary relief against an aggressive youth

hence her depressive moods

Opinions circulating left to right like a swarm of bees,

in such case she is the honeycomb

Would give it all to be at ease,

though it's hard to rise when worries roam

Pain in the book she reads,

pain in the dough she kneads,

pain in her eyes, grief in her cries,

deprived of the love she knows she needs

learned to cope in ways only she could

make sense of

recycled her pain to build a barrier fence

of..

sleeplessness, ache, & the joyful moments too

where she spends her days, locked away,

scanning reality from her mind-made view

too much said is how the pity is fed so she's

cautious with her words

too little said, now it's in her head

you only hear what she wants to be heard

to be left with memories,

to be greatly impacted,

to be left with memories,

so mild

yet, drastic.
